I don’t know about you, but sometimes a room just needs a little something to feel new again! I got so excited looking for a simple but powerful way to transform a space, and a black accent wall is just the ticket.

There is something so soothing about the elegant decor in this living room. I love how it’s amplified by the natural light that comes in against the black accent wall.
The dark paint and gold light fixtures create the perfect amount of contrast with the light-colored furniture. To me, the styling here takes this living space to a whole new level, mixing comfort and warmth with a really classy look.
3. Farmhouse Flip
I adore the farmhouse look, and shiplap walls are such a staple. Typically, you see shiplap installed horizontally and painted a bright white for that airy feel, which you can see around the perimeter of this house.
But can we talk about the partition wall behind the couch? Instead of getting the same treatment, the shiplap is painted black and installed vertically. It instantly modernizes the whole space! Just gorgeous!
4. Enhance Existing Features
When it comes to tile, there are a few schools of thought. Some people think grout should match the tiles, while others like to choose a color that’s a few shades lighter or darker.
I love what they did in this bathroom, which totally falls into the latter category. The white tile has been finished with black grout, and painting this accent wall really helps accentuate that contrast. What a clever idea!
5. Opulent Office Space
This home office feels so polished and professional because of the thoughtfully chosen decor. I think the black feature wall is the perfect backdrop for the eclectic mix of photography and abstract art.
A large potted plant, that sleek brown leather chair, and the live edge wooden desk with brushed chrome legs all add elements of warmth that keep the room from feeling too austere.

I really believe that when you’re decorating, you shouldn’t feel like you have to pick furniture and decor from the same era. Mixing pieces from different time periods is what can keep a room from feeling dated!
I adore the chairs here, made of black ash wood with knotted rope details that draw inspiration from 1950s Danish design. Then you have the sleek gold chandelier, which is more contemporary in style. It all works so beautifully.
7. Shiplap Chic
I love seeing a traditional farmhouse decor get a modern upgrade! The matte black paint on the shiplap accent wall here is just so good.
While swag pendant lights can feel very modern, these have such a vintage charm because of the old-fashioned Edison bulbs.

Okay, how fun is this idea? Chalkboard paint can transform any clean, flat surface into a slate you can write and draw on.
If you’re the artistic type, you can apply rich black chalkboard paint to a feature wall and adorn it with empty picture frames.
Each morning, you could use chalk to write new inspirational messages within the frames. For an extra touch of whimsy, you could even draw a crystal chandelier! So charming.

This bedroom has a limited color palette and streamlined furnishings, but it still feels so rich and layered because of its use of shapes. The rectangular window is framed by panel molding arranged in rectangles and L-shapes.
That same molding is laid out in squares across the rest of the black accent wall. Meanwhile, the mango wood nightstand and headboard have a more subtle brass geometric inlay. So many yummy details!

The deconstructed English roll-arm chair consists of linen and burlap upholstery on a distressed walnut frame that looks like it’s been aged in the salt air.

According to conventional design wisdom, people should avoid using dark and dramatic colors in bathrooms. But under the right circumstances, deeper hues can make a bathroom feel so chic and beautiful.
The clear glass panels of the vast shower amplify the natural light in this bathroom, allowing you to make unconventional color choices. The black accent wall serves to highlight the iron framework of the industrial-inspired shower. I’m sold!

This home office features a built-in bookcase that spans the length of an entire wall. Painting the shelving unit back helps it make a much bigger style statement.
Can you imagine if the built-in had been painted the same white as the walls? Its visual impact would have been lost. Going with a more dramatic color choice allows the unique decor to shine.
