Have you guys heard of feng shui? I hadn’t until about a year ago.
I kept hearing this word used to describe a particular aesthetic, but it wasn’t until just recently that I did some research and discovered it is a system of laws that determines the arrangement and orientation of items within a building.
For design purposes, the general idea is cozy, comfortable, and simple. The philosophy is a perfect representation of harmony, and these tips will help you use its principles in your own home.
Colour
First things first, what energy are you trying to bring into your life? Think about it.
Are you looking for happiness, love, wealth, or maybe just a little more peace? Once you figure out what you want, you can find the perfect color to help make it happen.
1. Red

BRING THE HEAT: You can turn your living room into something incredibly exciting with this ‘Enterprise In Red’ abstract print.
If you want to energize a room, red is your go-to. This is the color of fire, which is a big symbol of sun and life, and it’s perfect for bringing in joy, excitement, and even some sexual desire. Talk about a hot color!
2. Eggplant

FEELING ROYAL: This ‘Fallen Leaves’ nature print paired with a deep eggplant wall will add a sense of mystery.
Looking for something a little more luxe? I love the idea of using eggplant to create a feeling of mystique and nobility. Purple tones also add a touch of romance to a space, which is always a good thing in my book.
3. Blue

RELAX AND UNWIND: Channel some seriously tranquil energy with this ‘Deep Blue Ocean’ print. It’s ideal for a bedroom.
Blue is just one of those colors that feels so calming and healing. It’s absolutely perfect for a bedroom, creating a relaxing vibe that helps you unwind.
4. Gold

LIVE PROSPEROUSLY: Go for prosperity with this ‘Golden Dragon’ print, a gold ottoman, and a matching chest.
If you’re hoping to welcome a little more abundance, gold is your color. It’s long been associated with money and wealth, so why not add some sparkle to your space?
5. Yellow

SUNSHINE VIBES: Add a dose of happiness with all things yellow, like this cheerful ‘Sunflower Blooms’ print from our Spring collection.
You can instantly lift the mood with a splash of yellow. It’s the color of pure happiness and warmth, and it’s guaranteed to make any space feel brighter.
Symbol
Now, here’s the key when it comes to symbols: you have to truly connect with them. It’s not just about picking something because it’s supposed to bring prosperity; you have to genuinely love the image.
So if you’re not a fan of fish, a koi print probably isn’t going to work for you. Find a subject that really speaks to you, one that has both deep meaning and looks beautiful in your eyes.
6. Nature

LIVE IN HARMONY: Create a sense of unity with this gorgeous ‘Tropical Waterfall’ photo print and some lush green plants.
With 24 seasons in the Chinese agricultural calendar, it’s no surprise that nature is a huge part of the culture. Bringing elements of nature into your home is a beautiful way to help us live in harmony with the world around us.
7. Butterflies

FIND YOUR LOVE: This sweet ‘Butterfly Flowers’ print is a lovely way to help invite love into your life.
This one is for all the single people out there! Butterflies are a symbol of freedom, and they’re thought to bring lots of suitors your way, giving you the freedom to choose your perfect match.
If you’re already in a relationship, this “love cure” can invite more commitment and devotion.
8. Invite love

MAKE ROOM FOR ROMANCE: This ‘Meadow With The Love Heart Tree’ print adds just the right touch of magic to attract love.
Sometimes, it’s more about what you take away than what you add. To make space for love, you need to clear out anything that might distract from it. I’m talking dirty laundry, old sports equipment, the cat’s litter box, you know the drill.
Once you’ve cleared the clutter, add a symbol of romance to get your space ready for love.
9. Koi fish

POWERFUL ENERGY: You can swim with the fishes every day with this beautiful ‘Koi Fish In Pond’ print.
Koi fish are known for their powerful and energetic life force. Just like a koi swimming against the current, you can channel that energy to achieve success, good fortune, and prosperity.
10. Water

FEEL REFRESHED: Add this stunning ‘Crystal Clear’ wall art to your living space and watch the abundance flow.
Water is an ancient symbol for abundance, and it’s believed to help attract bounty into your life.
The refreshing blue tones also help you feel a deeper connection to life’s mysteries. It’s such a powerful element to bring into your decor.
Interior Design
It really all comes down to spatial relationships. The logic behind arranging your seating is actually pretty straightforward.
For instance, putting your sofa against a wall and placing furniture so that no one bumps into it makes a lot of sense. You can also bring in the five elements by using different shapes and nature-inspired images.
11. Mix of shapes

ELEMENTAL FUSION: Use this ‘Zen Circle On White’ print as the perfect feng shui cure for your metal element.
Using a mix of different shapes is a super simple way to incorporate all five of the essential elements. Think circles for metal, triangles for fire, squares for earth, and rectangles for wood. How easy is that?
12. Gender balance

FIND YOUR BALANCE: This ‘Vintage Monarch Butterfly’ print is such a charming way to bring both masculine and feminine energies together.
Think of yin as the feminine and yang as the masculine. Achieving a yin/yang balance is all about combining these two energies.
It’s totally up to you how you bring this balance into your home and make it your own.
13. Lucky bamboo

PEACE AND LUCK: This ‘Bamboo Jungle’ print requires zero watering, which makes it very lucky in my book.
Lucky bamboo is such a popular feng shui cure, and I can see why. It brings a peaceful and wise energy into a home.
But if you’re like me and not great with keeping plants alive, a wall print might be an even better solution!
14. Sofa against a solid wall

GET GROUNDED: Think big with this ‘Golden Kaleidoscope’ print, but be smart about where you position your sofa.
This is a big one! Your sofa shouldn’t just float in the middle of a room. Instead, place it against a solid wall, ideally as far from the entrance as you can get while still having a clear view of the door.
15. Meaningful travel

FEEL CONNECTED: Choose a travel print like this ‘Daigoji Temple In Autumn, Kyoto’ to enhance your sense of spiritual connection.
To create a stronger spiritual connection in your space, it’s so important to surround yourself with items that have real meaning. For me, a beautiful travel print often does the trick.
